John Bernards, President: Bernards has owned and managed companies and trade associations for over 30 years including Off Shore Sportswear, Ocean Pacific, Newport Blue, Men’s Apparel Guild in California (M.A.G.I.C.) and International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) to name a few. In addition to running JBA, Bernards is the Executive Director Emeritus of IASC and a member of the U.S. Commerce Trade Advisory. He is on the Board of Directors for Fashion Destination and Fashion Gives.
Bernards founded Off Shore Sportswear in 1976, grew the company to be a leading provider of action sportswear and then sold the company in 1989. He then served under the Ocean Pacific label as President of Newport Blue for two years; President of Jimmy Z for a year, and Chief Operating Officer of Ocean Pacific for his final two years. In 1993, he accepted the job as President and Chief Operating Officer of the largest men’s apparel show in the world, M.A.G.I.C.. He served on M.A.G.I.C.’s board of directors for fourteen years and was chairman of the board for two years. Bernards was hired by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) in 1999. He is credited with growing the organization’s membership and starting the first ever worldwide Go Skateboarding Day!
